IT'S AN IMPOSTER!

EASTERN MILKSNAKE
Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum

The milksnake is common throughout most of southern Ontario, where it is often found hunting rodents around barns and old buildings.  Its odd name comes from a myth that they suck milk from cows!  (This is definitely not true - snakes CAN'T SUCK!). Non-venomous and secretive, these snakes measure 60 to 90 cm in length - very long and slender compared to the massasauga.
